The partners of the SEACOOP EU/FP7 project (coordinated by Sigma Orionis) have decided today to create the “EU-SEA ICT Cooperation Network” a creation to become effective as of March 1, 2009. This network will include the present SEACOOP partners. National agencies from Brunei Darussalam, Lao PDR, and Myanmar will be invited to join the group so that all Southeast Asian countries are represented. The European Commission and ASEAN will be invited to attend the network meetings. In the short term, the activities of this constituency will consist in the continuation of basic SEACOOP activities (web site, exchange of information, help desk, etc.), in line with the overall objective of supporting the development of cooperation on ICT research between Europe and Southeast Asia. Formal meetings will be organized alternatively in Europe and in Southeast Asia, possibly co-located with other meetings addressing ICT research or policy, international cooperation, etc. The next meeting will take place in Singapore in November 2009, co-located with the ASEAN SCMIT meeting. For further information, please visit the SEACOOP website or contact us.
