The shift in China’s strategy focusing towards R&I and transforming the essence of its economy has been complimented with massive public investments in research and technology. In order to tackle critical global issues demanding close scientific and technological cooperation at an international level, EU has identified in China a natural partner able to contribute and complement its own capacity. The Project aims to support the European and Chinese research communities to establish collaborations under Horizon 2020 and beyond by providing 1/. a cooperation platform and tools to policy makers, aiming ultimately to support and enhance the bilateral cooperation through the concept of mutual benefit and 2/. a cooperation platform to funding agencies for exchanging best practices and for planning joint activities.
Sigma Orionis leads the project stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities and is supporting the EU and Chinese research community through the elaboration of H2020 promotional materials. In addition, Sigma Orionis is co-responsible for the organisation of 3 bi-regional consultation events, in the fields of Urbanization, BioEconomy and ICT, aiming at identifying priorities of common interests in each thematic area.
