The EuroAfriCa-ICT project aims at supporting the development of Euro-Africa cooperation projects in some ICT thematic areas addressed by FP7. Support services are provided to European and sub-African / Caribbean organisations interested in contributing to the development of such initiatives or projects, under FP7 or otherwise.

R&D CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE

In order to support the development of those Euro-Africa collaborative projects, a database of key R&D centres of excellence in the ICT field has been undertaken and is available online.

Mapping Database

In addition a comprehensive mapping database referencing key projects / initiatives / programmes / organisations in the field is being developed.

This mapping database has been created to :

  • Reference all organisations, projects, programmes and initiatives addressing S&T cooperation between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa / the Caribbean on ICT research
  • Assist the EuroAfrica-ICT Partnership and the European Commission to easily track possible and future synergies that could be developed with key players from the considered regions
  • Help the EuroAfriCa-ICT Partnership to provide relevant information to organisations looking for project partners

This database is developed with reference to...

  • Contacts that the EuroAfriCa-ICT Project Partners gather through their own activities
  • Contacts made through the EuroAfriCa-ICT Project activities
  • Online forms

...and is sorted out by

  • Category: EU-funded Project or not / Local, National or International Programme / Public or Private Organisation / Media / Contact Network / NGO / Other Initiatives
  • Details: Full Name / Acronym (if any) / Profile / URL / Contact details / Etc.
  • Region of Origin: Europe / sub-Saharan Africa / The Caribbean
  • Region of Activity / Destination: Europe / sub-Saharan Africa / The Caribbean

TECHINCAL VISITS & THEMACTIC WORKSHOPS

Contacts are further established with organisations from Europe and Africa / The Caribbean through the organisation of technical visits and thematic workshops in order to support the emergence of cooperation projects. Such workshops (focusing on identified strategic thematic areas) and visits (e.g. small groups visiting targeted research laboratories) are organised on the occasion of the EuroAfriCa-ICT Cooperation Forums and the FP7/ICT Awareness Workshops.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Guidance and support services are provided free of charge to European and sub-Saharan African / Caribbean organisations developing (or interested in) cooperation projects in the ICT field, in particular projects to be submitted to FP7/ICT calls for proposals. Whenever possible the best is done to identify match-making opportunities and suggest European and sub-Saharan African / Caribbean organisations to connect in a given area for a specific purpose. Should you need any guidance, contact us.
