Research co-operation with Europe and the topic of ICT has become an integral part of the research policies in Europe and in all Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) , following the Mediterranean Partnership initiated at the Barcelona Conference in 1995, which focused on the promotion of mechanisms to foster transfer of technology, on the increase of participation in joint research projects and on the encouragement of regional co-operation and integration.In this context, MED-Dialogue is a bridge for a two-way cooperation between the MPC and the EU aiming at 4 main objectives:
1/. Support through a flexible modular approach the dialogue between EU and the Region by preparing focused Position Papers on the issues relevant for the EU-MPC research cooperation in H2020;
2/. Raise awareness on the H2020 Calls and assist the organisations in the region to prepare proposals and find partners in order to increase their participation;
3/. Support the EC in the preparation of future H2020 WP by identifying the strengths and opportunities in the MPC for mutually beneficial cooperation;
4/. Support the coordination of INCO instruments in the MPC by exploiting synergies of running projects and make recommendations for future INCO activities in H2020.
Sigma Orionis contributes to producing the EU-MPC SRA (Strategic Research Agenda) especially in the e-Infrastructure field, training MPC on H2020, dissemination and communication activities (including synergies with other programmes and initiatives).
