ICT 2015 SmartFIRE booth exceeded expectations!

SmartFIRE participated in ICT 2015 - Innovate, Connect, Transform, organised on October 20-22, 2015 in Lisbon, by the European Commission, together with the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.

The SmartFIRE exhibition booth (T21) was located in the “Transform area” (Hall 2) showcasing the best of ICT Research and Innovation in European industry, business and digital economy: a strategic location with important visibility and traffic.

The SmartFIRE team presented to the visitors the 3 European and 5 South Korean testbeds participating in the project. By October 2015, all testbeds, except GIST, had been successfully connected to the platform. Project partners were glad to provide visitors with technical details about the various islands and their resources. The SmartFIRE team used ICT 2015 also as an opportunity to demonstrate two scenarios running on the SmartFIRE facility. These use cases had been developed as examples of Korean and European collaborative experiments.

Moreover, SmartFIRE and 6 other FIRE-related projects participating in ICT 2015 had agreed to organise a common contest during ICT 2015. The FIRE Quiz Contest organised by SmartFIRE with the kind contribution of Fed4FIRE, FLEX, IoT Lab, MOSAIC 2B, RAWFIE and SUNRISE having also demo booths at the ICT 2015, was open to all ICT 2015 participants. The Quiz included 8 questions (one question on each FIRE-related project, plus one question on FIRE). The winner, Estan Fernández from Telefonica, was announced at the SmartFIRE booth on October 22 at 13:00 CET. The prize was awarded by Per Blixt, Head Unit “Experimental Platforms” (E4) at the European Commission’s DG CONNECT.

All in all, the SmartFIRE participation at ICT 2015 was a unique opportunity to showcase project expertise, to highlight the project achievements up until this point, and to present the SmartFIRE platform to a wide ICT audience. The SmartFIRE booth attracted an audience of more than 400 stakeholders, thus massively increasing the project’s visibility and laying the ground for the fruitful exploitation of project results.
