Sigma Orionis supports the Digital Enlightenment Forum

July 22, 2013

Sigma Orionis is proud to support the organisation of the 2013 edition of the Digital Enlightenment Forum (DEF), to take place on September 18-20, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Brussels. The event includes, on September 20, a “Digital Futures Workshop”, co-hosted by the Digital Enlightenment Forum and the Digital Futures Task Force of European Commission’s DG Connect. The event welcomes participants from science, technology, law, industry and policy areas who are interested in and can contribute to the debate and to policy developments in the field of Personal Data and Citizenship in the Digital Society.

The list of keynote speakers include Tim Berners-Lee (Director WWW Foundation), Hamadoun Toure (Secretary General ITU), Peter Hustinx (EU Data Protection Supervisor), Robert Madelin (Director General DG Connect, European Commission), and Luciano Floridi (University of Hertsfordshire).

The Digital Enlightenment Forum is a not-for-profit organisation founded under Luxembourg law in 2011. DEF aims to shed light on today’s rapid technological changes and their impact on society and governance. It examines digital technologies and their applications openly with essential societal values in mind.

Detailed information on the event can be found on the DEF website.
