Towards more sustainable cities: the RESILIENT FP7 project

April 28, 2013

Sigma Orionis is a partner of the RESILIENT FP7 project, launched in September 2012 and coordinated by the Italian engineering consulting company D’Appolonia. Among other tasks, Sigma Orionis will be in charge of developing watch activities and (as dissemination leader) of organizing the first edition of the “ICT for sustainable places“ international conference, to take place in Nice, France, from September 9 to 11, 2013.

The main focus of the project is ICT for energy efficiency at buildings and district levels. The conference is meant to support collective awareness and EU-wide integrated research effort. It will be an open research forum for stakeholders at the crossroads of ICT, energy and construction, offering a key opportunity to manufacturers, service providers, research laboratories, standard development organizations and urban planners to meet and network, share information, assess outcomes from the most advanced projects, discuss possible synergies and envision possible standards evolution.

To ensure the smooth organisation of this conference, Sigma Orionis will build on the successful “ICT for sustainable homes” annual events, organized by Sigma Orionis from 2009 to 2011 in the context of the Beywatch FP7 project extending their scope to sustainable cities, and more generally to sustainable places.
