Tribute to Pierre Laffitte, founder of Sophia Antipolis

April 20, 2015

Sigma Orionis has contributed, on last April 16, to the events organised in Sophia Antipolis to pay a tribute, on the occasion of his 90th anniversary, to Pierre Laffitte, a visionary man who, at the end of the 60s, conceived this “City of wisdom, science and technologies” and who, since then, has done so much for its development.

Roger Torrenti, CEO of Sigma Orionis, who had the opportunity to work with Pierre Laffitte, in Sophia Antipolis, from the early 70s on, has been at the origin of this tribute day, with few other Pierre Laffitte’s friends. A number of officials, CEOs, scientists, and students participated in this event, concluded by a flashmob involving all those who came from Sophia Antipolis organisations to say “Thank you!” to Pierre Laffitte.

Roger Torrenti’s testimonial published in the Sophia Mag magazine can be found here; the article published in Nice-Matin on April 17 can be found here.
